Maceió (Mah-say-aw), the capital of the state of Alagoas in the northeast of Brazil, is a modern city with the most beautiful and alluring beaches in South America (http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macei%C3%B3) The city is located between Mundaś Lake and the Atlantic Ocean. The population is about 930,000 inhabitants (year 2006). The sea and lagoons that distinguish the stunning landscape welcome tourists from all over the world. The area enjoys a typical tropical seaside climate with an average temperature of 25°C (77 °F). Maceio's cuisine has long enchanted visitors, in particular with seafood that includes fish, shrimps, crabs and lobsters.
Maceió is also a wide range of cultural and environmental sites of interest. The city is home to the Federal University of Alagoas.
The new Zumbi dos Palmares International Airport connects Maceió with many Brazilian cities and also operates some international flights.
